Shadrander’s personal background is fairly unknown. All that can be said about him are his physical attributes (1.92’ tall and a bulky body) and that he is a human, but nothing like age, origin, race or even real name could be ever be obtained.
There are a lot of versions about his past, but none has been proven to be more than a mare speculation. Some version says that he has been abandoned by his parents while he was a baby, and from there he got neglected by society; while others include unlikely stuff such as he being the spoiled child of one powerful ninja family and that he decided to escape from his village in order to avoid the task powerful ninjas are sometimes requested (killing their own father). The only truth which can be really obtained about him is his actual self.
This mysterious figure moves like a shadow in the dark, but not because of fear or caution, it has nothing to do with those emotions, but because he sees interaction as something useless.
As a
nihilist, he does not believe in humans as something “good”. Human life itself is not something which should be preserved; human causes are not useful because there is not such a thing which could be described as “good” to be worthy defending. And even if they were, they won’t last forever as some idealist might thing: “just give it a couple of centuries, and you’ll see any utopia burn into bloody dust”.
Even though, he is not a mass murder. At difference of most Nihilist, who believe humans to be a waste of space, Shadrander see the usefulness in them; but not as living beings (because life itself has no value), but as tools. Therefore, killing is a process of wasting a long process which created a useful tool.
The cause which makes him fight, even if it’s against his philosophy, is not a big secret. Even though he believes life does not have a goal, he knows that there is something he can [and must] do. This contradiction within himself makes him to loath the part of his psyche which makes him have that wage. Even so, he does not really know what is that something, so he does not know which side should he use. “I choose to fight with the weaker side just to balance things, once I’m decided, then I’ll fight on the side I choose, until the end.”
His fighting style is also from an unknown origin, but it’s known as “Khaos drakōn”, from the Greek “Dragon chaos”. Even though, believing there is some relationship between his fighting style and a European origin is probably a mistake, because it’s more likely that this is based on his fighting nickname: “Shadrander”. His nickname is formed after three words: “
Shadow,
Dragon, Thu
nder”. These words, even if they seem kind of contradictory, are focused on what is thought to be Shadrander’s source of power:
“The legendary Radien-nero-ryū-sama” (The dark dragon of thunder, therefore “Shadrander”).
